WELCOME!

During the undergraduate psychology summer institute (UPSI), you will be granted the opportunity to engage in activities and conversations that will prepare you for a future in graduate school, if you so choose to pursue a graduate degree. While participating in workshops at Spelman College, Morehouse College, and the University of Georgia, you will have the chance to meet and make lasting connections with students and faculty who will provide the support and expertise needed to be successful in the program and thereafter.

It is important to note that as underrepresented students, it is our goal to increase your exposure to and interest in psychological careers by involving you in research activities and graduate school preparation workshops. Because of racial discrimination and disparities, the brilliant minds of minority students have often been omitted from graduate studies, but with the establishment of this program, we hope to reduce racial disparities in the field of psychology.

Your hard work and determination is vital to not only the success of the program, but to your  futures as role models and scholars in this wonderful field.

We want everyone to have a profound learning experience this summer, while enjoying a unique chance to explore campuses that you are unfamiliar with. This can be achieved if everyone works hard and puts forth effort to contribute to a successful first year of the program. We look forward to a tremendous six weeks with all of you!

Best regards,

UPSI Faculty
